About Bogliasco Foundation and its mission
The Bogliasco Foundation’s Center provides 60 one-month Fellowships per year for exceptional international artists and scholars in all phases of their careers to deepen creativity, connect to other perspectives, and develop their best work.
Founded in 1996 as a 501(c)3 US nonprofit incorporated in New York and operating in Italy, the Bogliasco Center provides Fellowships in the following disciplines: archeology, architecture and design, classics, dance, film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy, public humanities, theater, visual arts.
Bogliasco offers an intimate and intellectually nourishing environment on the Italian Riviera near Genoa, in which a wide diversity of Fellows, each involved in a different field of the arts and humanities, have complete freedom to focus, reflect, and open themselves to expansive creative thinking. Conversing over shared daily meals, carefully designed cohorts of 8-10 residents learn to communicate beyond personal and professional boundaries, often establishing new collaborations.
Long after the Fellows leave the Center, the lessons of the experience continue to enrich their work and communities: yielding greater appreciation for the arts and humanities, expanding knowledge and aesthetic experience, and amplifying engagement between global citizens.
The Bogliasco Center’s program has been supported in part by grants from US-based Foundations and tax-deductible donations from individual US donors, who share our urgent call to sustain the future vitality of the arts and humanities - those disciplines that have, in large measure, defined human existence. Thanks to this new partnership with Fondo Filantropico Italiano and the Transnational Giving Europe Network, Bogliasco may now receive tax-deductible donations from the following European countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain. As the Bogliasco Foundation is striving to build an endowment in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program, we are deeply grateful for your support.
