Luciana Philanthropic Fund

The Luciana Fund is an initiative established by a benefactor to contribute to the development of public healthcare in his local area and is dedicated to a loved one. The donor’s decision was driven by an awareness of the fundamental role that healthcare facilities play in a community’s ecosystem of services, serving as a vital point of reference in the region. After an initial and significant phase of support for the Umberto I Hospital in Lugo, in the province of Ravenna, the Luciana Fund will expand its scope. While maintaining its commitment to investing in the same area, it will also operate in the fields of social welfare, healthcare assistance, and education.

A needs-based intervention

To date, the Luciana Fund has supported concrete initiatives to bring immediate improvements to the Umberto I Hospital in Lugo (RA), aiming to ensure continuity and quality of care while enhancing access to medical services. This healthcare facility is a positive example of a district hospital—close and accessible to the population—operating within a territorial network and effectively addressing needs through a patient-centered care model.

A long-term commitment

With a view to continuous development, the commitment to the Umberto I Hospital in Lugo is long-term, and funding is directed towards strengthening the surgical department to improve the quality of local healthcare and respond promptly to urgent medical needs. To date, the Fund has supported the technical renewal of the hospital’s surgical unit by financing the purchase of four operating tables, a surgical light, and related accessories. It has also committed to funding the renewal of the MRI equipment and the acquisition of state-of-the-art medical devices to further enhance the quality of services provided.
